7月22日 He's home!!!My mom brought "the boy" home on Monday. I really need to find a different nick name for him cuz he's not really a boy anymore. He's a teenager. It was nice to have a break from the teenage angst, but I'm glad he's home. I took him out yesterday and bought him the long anticipated Book 7 in the Harry Potter series. In about 3 hours, he had already read half of it. It was like pulling teeth to get him to put it down long enough to go to sleep. Must be really good!!! I am reading the other books again before I read that one, so I know who's who and what's what.
He thinks he's in love. He has known this girl for two weeks. Actually, he doesn't really know her because he met her on some silly chat site that they advertise on Cartoon Network. Supposedly, this place is safe from preditors. I don't know much about it. My mom let him use it while he was staying with her. Anyway, this girl gave him her phone number. Yes, it is a her. I've spoken to her briefly, so I can rest a little easier now. Anyway, like I said he has only known her for a couple of weeks and already they are telling each other "I love you." I know my son has issues, but this girl (who is 15) must have a few of her own. I mean my son is 13 and she is okay with this. I'm not very comfortable with the situation. Mainly because I feel that my son is way too young to be professing his love to anyone, let alone a 15 year old high school freshman. Especially a 15 year old freshman from Indiana. Mind you, in general I have nothing against Indiana. I just think he's too young, she's too old and too far away.
I suddenly feel like I'm stuck in the middle a modern day Romeo and Juliet. If I tell him he can't talk to her anymore, I'm a horrible person (at least in his eyes). If I let it continue, I'm a terrible mother (in the eyes of just about everyone else). What should I do? I really feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place on this issue.
So, till next time....if I haven't been crushed between that rock and the hard place....
Much love my friends 7月4日 Break TimeSo, I finished my first 10 week term with a 4.0 GPA and I made the President's Honor Roll. Not bad for someone working full time, being a single mom, and going to school full time. Yeah, I know I'm tooting my own horn, but if no one else is willing to make noise for me, I have to do it myself.
I know I haven't been keeping up with this. Fact is, between school and work, my son is lucky to get a few moments of my time. *Guilt sets in* I am determined that I will finish because for some reason I think that having that piece of paper in my hand will get me a bigger paycheck and a better way of life for my son and me.
Isn't it interesting how we have been conditioned to believe that having a degree in something means we will be paid better? When you think about it, a degree is just a piece of paper telling people that you can finish what you start. You would be amazed at how many employers have revealed that little tidbit of information to me.
Anyway, I hope that everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July.
Later My Friends |
